to and from Sandspit
Sandspit is the main airport on Haida Gwaii and has daily flights from Vancouver International Airport through Air Canada.
You can also get to the islands by ferry from Prince Rupert. The Prince Rupert ferry arrives at Skidegate Landing, on Graham Island, just across from Sandspit. From there, you can hop on a small ferry (the “Kwuna”) which departs from the same terminal where the Prince Rupert ferry comes in. The Kwuna is a 20-minute ferry ride that brings you to Alliford Bay ferry landing, a 20-minute drive from the town of Sandspit.
Between Sandspit and Graham Island
Graham Island, the northern island of Haida Gwaii, has most of the towns and population of the islands. To get to Graham Island from Sandspit, you must drive 20 minutes to the Alliford Bay ferry landing, then take a 20-minute ferry from Alliford Bay to Skidegate Landing. By bike, it takes about an hour to get to Alliford Bay from Sandspit (a distance of about 15 km), and it is a pleasant flat ride with very little traffic.

Car Rentals: There is one car rental company in K'il Kun Sandspit, and like the other car rental places on the island, car availability can be limited, so make sure you book ahead. Be sure to ask about their policies for unpaved roads if you plan to go to any sites off of the main highway.
